My Philosophy on Being a Real Estate Agent:
Your Agent Should:
- Understand that this is one of the biggest purchases—and events—in your life, and how much it really means
- Teach you HOW TO BECOME READY to buy a home, and not assume you know what is expected of you
- Help you articulate your goals and focus on them so you actually end up with what you want
- Relieve stress by communicating with you every step of the way so you know what to expect and when
- Offer their advice at YOUR convenience – like with an awesome, constantly updating BLOG!
- Always be doing that little extra to ensure you have an extraordinary experience!
Your Agent Should NOT
- They should not treat you like a transaction
- They should not push you into buying the wrong house
- They should not expect you to know ANYTHING about the home-buying process (And they shouldn't expect you to just figure it out on your own along the way either!)
Your agent should always do
that little extra
to ensure you have an extraordinary experience
MORE?! You need MORE details?!? KK...
Did little Michaela dream of selling houses? Nope!
Did I dream of taking charge of situations and being known for always going above and beyond to be THE BEST? You better believe it!
For 10 years I have worn a necklace that is engraved with this: “There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.” I truly believe that. If something is worth doing, then it’s worth doing AWESOMELY.
My background is in Service and Entertaining. Back when I was serving margaritas at Applebee’s, I made sure there were no smudges on the glass and that you actually liked your drink, because I cared. When I worked as a caterer, I developed a detailed labeling system with all possible allergens, because I cared. When I was a wedding and event planner, my clients’ calendars were in my calendar. Solving their worries was my to-do list. Every detail mattered, because I cared.
Then when COVID came along, I couldn’t help people host large events anymore… so I got my real estate license!
Wait, what's the connection?
I planned my own wedding, but I wish I wouldn’t have. Of course it turned out amazing, but there were SO many little details to plan ahead of time that I wasn’t able to feel present on the Big Day. (“Dinner is starting 7 minutes behind schedule!”) This is what actually led me to helping other people plan theirs.
But when COVID hit, large weddings weren’t really a “thing” anymore. I wondered what other life event is a nerve-wracking, expensive, BIG deal that has a TON of details most people don’t even know they need to know? And the answer is BUYING A HOUSE!
I may have planned my wedding but I certainly couldn’t have bought our first home without the help of our amazing Realtor. (Shout Out to Beth Perez!) She made sure my husband and I never felt pressured, confused or rushed. She put us in contact with an amazing lender who helped us get financed with the *very* little money we had then. She kept us informed about everything that was going on when we finally put in an offer on a home we liked. She never missed a deadline. She became a trusted advisor. We referred her to all of our friends and she helped us sell our first home and buy the next one.
Having this worry-free, trusting relationship with her is what I want to do for you. I know first hand that buying a house is SUPER intimidating and can even seem impossible.
Not on my watch.
